Purpose of the project:
This company realized that they are spending lot of money in manually trying out new color scheme for prints; also the entire process is very time consuming. They wanted to cut down on the time consumed in this process of trying out color schemes, so that the production time can be increased.

Process Followed:
This was an internship project and the time duration was 4 weeks. After getting the project brief we followed the following steps:

1. Survey of the company.

2. Understanding the working style.

3. Analyzing

4. Collect the data required to develop the Utility Tool.

5. Digitizing the data.

6. Developing the logic

 

My Contribution:
This project being an internship project we had to work in a group of 2. The work profile of both the group partners was pre-decided. I headed the group in the following activities:

1. Analysis of the company.

2. Developing the Structure of the Utility Tool.

3. Programming Logic.

4. Usability aspect

5. Execution of the Logic.

Research:
The company uses semi-transparent water based colors. The one who works in the color kitchen has to know how the colors will react with each other and make new color, when it is applied on a colored fabric. So that right color can be achieved. Each time they want to try new color schemes they have to go through the following time consuming process, this approximately takes two working days.

- Mixing colors.

- Getting table ready for print.

- Print, Dry and Color fastness.

The colors they use are all chemical dyes and each pack of color comes in least amount of 5 kg. Pack, each time they want to make new color scheme for the forthcoming season. Company has to order the least amount of 5 kg. Pack. Secondly after all these process once the samples are ready they make catalogues and send it to their buyers located in various cities in India and also overseas. Now if buyer asks for same design in various color schemes, the company has to print the design and send them back. We were supposed to cut down all these efforts and capital invested.

Final Result:

After 4 weeks we came up with a flash application which would facilite trying out various color ways of the given screen prints and take a printout of the edited print.

Above is a screen shot of the application we developed. This application had certain constrains like limited colors, fixed alpha and few usuability issues. Therefor we came up with an upgraded application after 3 months.

We did the heuristic analysis, and customer survey for the iPod shuffle and added some features to it. some basic requirments from iPod shuffle customers.

The below is the iPod shuffle with the lock feature and separated shuffle button.

This project is a part of physical computing workshop with ID labs. It was made by circuit hack.

The computer games become more interesting, by using actual gaming metaphors for controls.

Project Brief:

The idea of “Built – in” as a simple way to arrange a free-standing application in order to integrate it into a piece of furniture will have to be overcome by proposal aiming at integrating in kitchen the chosen phenomena itself, with its intrinsic aesthetical expression and ability to directly relate to the user.

Process:

The complete design process followed by us to develop this project is listed below:

• Brain storming – Coming up with the list of phenomenon
• Selecting phenomenon (key words) from the brainstorming.
• Elaborating on the selected phenomenon.
• Refining the key words.
• Defining the objective
• Coming up with concepts based on the selected phenomenon.
• Researching for technology required to implement the concept.
• Developing scenarios.

My Contribution:

This was a live project and the client was Samsung. We worked in a group of 3. Below are the activities in which I headed the group:

1. Feasibility study for the concept

3. Structure and execution of the presentation.

Project: Color snooper
Applied Dreams’ are innovation workshops in which Interaction-Ivrea faculty and students collaborate with an industry partner. The aim of these workshops is to develop a range of future concepts for products and services.

The design brief, on a topic of interest to both parties, is developed jointly, to be useful to the company and fit the educational requirements of the Institute. As a result, the partner obtains new concepts and approaches from the participating first and second-year students, who in turn have the opportunity to gain experience in the rapid iteration of design solutions.

The Applied Dreams workshops are led by an Interaction-Ivrea faculty member and/or visiting faculty. Industry partners are encouraged to send full-time participants to the workshop, also, to foster the fullest possible exchange of interaction design knowledge.

Purpose of the project:
Gems and jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) every year organizes an international jewelry show. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is the official design consultant for the exhibition. NIFT takes care of exhibition design, stall design, information kiosk design etc. NIFT has its own stall in the show in which the forecasted trends for the jewelry industry are displayed in the form of presentations, the forecasting is done by the jewelry trends forecasting cell NIFT. The CD of the presentation is also distributed among the overseas and domestic trade visitors, jewelers, buyers, designers and other people who visit the show.

My Contribution:
This was college project where a group of 5 faculties and 3 students were working. I was leading the student group. My work profile for the project was very specific. I was suppose to take care of the following things:

1. Usability features

2. layout & information flow

3. Assisting for the final authoring of the CD in Macromedia Director.

Purpose of the project:

This designer label Bandhej is doing excellent in retailing; they have extended their business to seven stores across six cities in India. Their regular overseas clientele have always suggested them to have an online store. The company did a survey in which they found that greater part of their overseas clientele was in favor of having an online store. (30% of their overall clientele is overseas)

Process :

This was a part of my Diploma Project and the duration of the project was 8 weeks. After getting the project brief we followed the process listed below:

1. Data collection

2. Understanding the style and mindset of Bandhej and its designers. This was done in order to prepare layouts which actually represented Bandhej.

3. Preparing the Information Architecture.
4. Designing layouts.

5. Designing and developing the Backend 6. Executing the website using VB.net.

My Contribution:

This being a diploma project it was a group of 2 people. We had our work distributed from the beginning of the project as per our abilities and interests. I headed the group in the process of:

1. Analysis of the company.

2. Developing the Information Architecture.

3. Usability analysis and design of the website layouts.

Abstract:
Mobi_Pac is a traffic service which analyses and transforms the current traffic situations into a gaming scenario. All the drivers can contribute to the system by leaving virtual rewards at places in the city. Mobi_Pac uses those virtual “treasures” as a guide to avoid traffic jams. It leads the drive to a less crowded was to his destination, reduces traffic jams and saves time.

This installation was the part of Physical computing workshop conducted during Master’s
course in IDII(Interaction design Institute Ivrea) + Domus Academy,Milan in 2006.

Brief :- How would you make domestic environment(in this context retail                                         environment) and objects around people more sense – able.

Study :- We did careful observations of how customers react to the objects and spaces in
the retail environment.

Design Objective :- A mirror, which can remember and save some pictures of user for
their friends waiting outside the changing room to act as a critic.

What is it? :- Cache-Mirror is a sense – able mirror which can click users                                                        pictures save in a flash memory and can display upto 3 pictures at a                                        time. User can see all the clicked pictures on screen next to mirror to                                    compare the garments they wore.

Conclusion :- We wanted to reduce the amount of time a customer spends while                                         changing garments, and maximize the time to make right decisions.
By doing this project we wanted customers to have different approach
towards mirrors and create a unique retail experience.

If the Interface with computing could be re-designed for today’s culture of use, what would the OS be like and how would it function?

Assumptions

We want to explore the level of complexity on a specific relationship between teenagers, because we find the interesting how these groups perceive life nowadays, and how they behave in consequences.
Design Objective:

Strengthening social relationships by sharing experiences between close groups by virtually taking over one another’s application.

What is it?

Dog Days is an application designed for teenage girls for whom life is perceived as a group life. This is an application where they can have their own secret notes, share music, post notes and voice messages within their own group.

Conclusion

• We wanted to explore how would a person could manipulate some one else’s devices.

• We were interested in relationships between close groups.

• We explored these through a targeted group of teenagers.
o They see life as a group life nowadays.
o They like sharing their experiences between them.

• We proposed an interface that could allow these girls to relate between them through sharing and taking light control over their computers.

Future steps:

• The buddy picture size decreases if not in touch since a long time.

• Using more stronger visual language for adults and old age people.

We started at 10am with Massimo, he was giving us some basic knowledge of hacking and electronics. At around 11am Adam came from budapest with bags full of chinese toys, and the fun began.

We started taking off electronics from the toys, by the lunch time all the cats, dogs, tanks, UFOs, etc etc were opened up. till the end of the day(6 pm that day) we had to make something stupidly working using those parts.

I had one motion sensor(many of them stopped working after a while), a circuit of UFO and few batteries.
